Municipal Art Gallery - Zdzisław Beksiński Museum

The Municipal Art Gallery in Częstochowa is an ideal place to think and reflect while contemplating various art forms, such as painting, sculpture, prints, ceramics or photography. The gallery is the organiser of annual outdoor painting events “Jurajska Jesień” (Autumn in the Jura”) and “Plener Miejski” (“Outdoor Painting in the City”), as well as of the “SACRUM” International Art Triennial and a contest for young artists dedicated to the memory of Marian Michalik. The gallery possesses a rich collection of paintings, prints and drawings. The Film Centre at the gallery offers a carefully selected choice of screenings for cinema connoisseurs, as well as a gallery of children’s art called “The Magical Pencil”.

The Zdzisław Beksiński Museum is one of two places in Poland where one can see original works by the artist. The Municipal Art Gallery in Częstochowa was given some of the paintings of Zdzisław Beksiński several years ago for permanent display by their owners, art collectors from Paris – Anna and Piotr Dmowski. The collection consists of more than a dozen works and can be viewed in a specially arranged exhibition space.
